The story

Banga soup is an iconic ceremonial centerpiece of the Urhobo and Isoko nations of Delta State, prepared for traditional weddings and Sunday family feasts. Known as Amiedi among the Urhobo, the dish depends on a precise spice blend containing oburunbebe stick, Aidan fruit, and beletietie leaves. The hallmark of an authentic preparation lies in the use of a clay pot, which regulates heat retention and allows the rich palm oils to emulsify gracefully with fresh river fish.
