The story

Crafted by the Betsimisaraka community along the lush, tropical eastern coastline of Madagascar, Betsabetsa is the sacred beverage shared during ancestral famadihana ceremonies, weddings, and communal harvesting celebrations (rombiky). The drink balances sweet freshly crushed cane juice with the astringency of wild forest barks and bitter citrus foliage, which provide natural antimicrobial properties and wild yeasts. An artisan nuance is the use of bitter orange leaves and toasted wild bark to control the wild fermentation rate and impart a characteristic amber hue and dry, herbal finish.
