The story

Originating among the pastoral communities of the arid Ferlo and groundnut basin regions, bouye is the quintessential energy drink of Senegal. It is traditionally whipped up during Korité (Eid al-Fitr) mornings and given to laborers and nursing mothers to replenish electrolytes and stamina. Baobab pulp (pain de singe) naturally dehydrates on the tree into chalky fruit chunks, boasting exceptional levels of vitamin C and soluble pectin that give this drink its naturally velvety, emulsion-like body without added thickeners.
