The story

Prepared in kitchens throughout both rural homesteads and urban centers in Zimbabwe, Muriwo une Dovi is the quintessential green relish (muriwo) served alongside stiff sadza. While pumpkin leaves (muboora) are the gold standard during the rainy summer, cooks also use collard greens (covo) or mustard greens during dry winter months. The culinary secret lies in meticulously stripping the coarse, fibrous hairs from each leaf stem prior to slicing and gently tempering pure stone-ground peanut paste (dovi) with warm vegetable broth before incorporating it.
