The story

Djobo is a cherished coastal soup of the Sawa and Abo fishing communities situated across the Littoral Region of Cameroon, traditionally cooked for hearty midday meals during the heavy coastal rainy seasons. It draws its deep orange hue and velvety texture from freshly boiled and pounded oil palm fruit pericarp rather than refined palm oil. Culturally, the soup hinges on indigenous aromatic seasonings like Esese (Tetrapleura tetraptera) and wild country onions, which cut through the rich lipids of the palm concentrate.
