Omatangazoununi (Kalahari Tsamma Melon Seed Porridge)
Nutty, nutrient-rich Kalahari wild melon seed porridge simmered with pearl millet and enriched with raw marula oil.
The story
Originating from indigenous San and pastoralist communities of the arid Kalahari and Omaheke regions, omatangazoununi is an ancestral morning sustenance prepared after the annual tsamma and wild melon harvest. Dried seeds extracted from hardy desert melons are roasted and pounded into a rich, oily meal before being simmered into whole grains. Historically valued as survival sustenance in waterless terrains, the high lipid and amino acid content of ground melon seeds creates a silky natural emulsion without requiring dairy.
